We sat down with Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty broker Susan Chace who was recently elected to the Global Real Estate Council for the Seattle King County Association of Realtors (SKCAR). With the real estate market becoming more international every day we are very proud of Susan for utilizing the global reach of Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty to contribute to the real estate industry. Here is what she has to say regarding her new role on the council:
-What is the SKCAR global real estate council? What purpose does it serve and topics does it cover?
The purpose of the Global Real Estate Council is to support the members of the Seattle King County Association of REALTORS® (SKCAR) who does business with global markets through education and networking activities, information sharing, and involvement with select global real estate organizations.
-What is your role and how do you contribute?
I am one of the Executive Board Members and our world wide headquarters is located in Bellevue, WA. We establish the guidelines that govern the different committees within our organization. Our role is to create a central place of resource and information for other council members, international investors, and others who are interested in purchasing real estate both in the USA and anywhere overseas.
-How did you become a part of the council?
I was selected by the chair because of my international association through Sotheby’s International Realty and my desire to assist people with their global real estate investments.
-What benefits does being on the council provide you as a realtor? or to other realtors?
Being able to be on the forefront of what’s happening locally and knowing where the hot markets are overseas is a huge benefit not only to me, but to other realtors and investors. Everyone is looking for deals and sometimes the best ones are overseas. Buying overseas has many obstacles, such as taxation and other legal issues. Our goal is to be the central resource center to help facilitate realtors with the process for all global real estate transactions. We are streamlining and standardizing the process of purchasing properties both here and abroad.
-When was the council formed? How many members does the council have?
The council was formed last year and we have restructured it to include 5 executive board members to assist and oversee all internal operations. Initially, the council was formed to oversee the Ambassador Program with Japan, which included visits between SKCAR delegates and those of Japan. We will be adding more countries to our Ambassador Program as well.
-How does being a broker in the global Sotheby’s International Realty brand assist you on the council?
Sotheby’s International Realty is a global brand and it makes sense to be part of a brokerage that has the worldwide, recognizable reach such as Sotheby’s Realty. The international relationships I have will benefit the council as I can provide an avenue to help streamline the process for purchasing real estate. In fact, all the other board members are all well travelled and connected throughout the world. We are a committed and dynamic group that all have the same desire to connect people globally.
-Anything that is important about the council that the above questions don’t address?
Along with the expanded scope of the council, we still assist the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) President Liaison to Japan in establishing relationships with FIABCI, ARREA, RECAJ, and FRK, other activities associated with NAR global events, collaborating with like organizations such as WA REALTORS®, FIABCI, AREAA, and NAHREP to promote international real estate business professionalism for members.
