Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide (NYSE: HOT) on Monday said it has reached an agreement with Kemper Development Co., to open a W brand hotel as part of the $1.2 billion expansion of Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square.
The W Bellevue is scheduled to open in spring 2017. W Bellevue will join W Seattle as the brand’s second hotel in the Puget Sound region.
Located in the Lincoln Square mixed-use project, the W Bellevue will be in a 450-foot-tall hotel on the east side of Bellevue Way between Northeast Fourth and Eighth streets.
In addition to the W Bellevue, the 1.5-million-square-foot Lincoln Square expansion includes an office tower, 180,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space. The W Bellevue high-rise that will also have 231 luxury apartments.
The W Bellevue’s “cutting-edge design brings our community’s heritage into modern times with a contemporary interpretation of the joy and wonder that we all feel in a welcoming lakeside summer house,” said Kemper Freeman, chairman and CEO of Kemper Development, which owns Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square.
The W Bellevue will have 245 rooms, including 25 suites and an Extreme Wow Suite, which is the brand’s re-interpretation of the traditional presidential suite. There will be a “living room” in the hotel, made up of a bar, library stocked with pulp-fiction novels, an oversized fireplace, and an outdoor terrace with porch swings and a pool table.
