What are Your Favorite Parts of Your Jobs?
“I love helping people; I love teaching agents and sharing my experience with brokers at our firm; I love the excitement of going on a listing appointment, meeting somebody and having the challenge of selling their home and successfully closing it together; I love marketing and the entire design process of creating our next piece and brainstorming how we can make it better than our last.”
What do You Enjoy Doing Outside of Work?
“I’ve always had a passion for restaurants, dining and social things. Eleven years ago our family opened our first restaurant, 520 Bar and Grill, and it’s really been a fun hobby of mine to see it grow, to see people having a fun time, and to see it be profitable. We are now opening our second restaurant in the new Lincoln Square expansion where it will be almost twice as big and brand new. The excitement of putting it all together and seeing if we can do it all over again is very challenging and inspiring to me.
I also love my family and the time I spend with my three daughters. It’s really been an incredible experience to be their dad, hang out with them, and watch them grow. Taylor (my youngest daughter) works with me in the real estate office, Cody (my oldest daughter) moved home from California and now runs our restaurant division and that’s been great so far this year, I get to spend half of my day with Taylor, in and out of listing appointments and meetings helping brokers, and the other half of my day is spent with Cody, working on things for the new restaurant. My middle daughter Joey follows my lead in helping children and is the new Teen Program Director at the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club and I get to watch her firsthand making a difference in kids’ lives.
I also like sports. I like to watch the Seahawks and University of Washington and I like to practice hot yoga myself. Eight years ago, after suffering eight surgeries on my knee that left me in pretty bad shape, someone turned me on to hot yoga and I while know it sounds crazy, I’ve since been doing it religiously almost everyday for the past eight years. If I’m in town, there’s not a morning that goes by that I don’t attend the early morning yoga class and it is something that has really turned my mind, body, and soul around.”
What makes your company stand out?
At Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty, I think we have outstanding marketing. We have weekly meetings to brainstorm new ideas and I am always pushing our marketing team on how to make our next pieces better, exploring what new ideas we can do, and how we can continue to make our pieces stand out on top. We never want our marketing to be vanilla and we don’t want to do what everybody else is doing. Over the years we have won numerous awards for our team’s unique and creative marketing.
What are the keys to your success in luxury real estate?
Connecting with people, being with people, learning to communicate with people, and building trust with the people you work with. Our clients have to trust us and know that we will take care of their most valuable possession which for most people is their house. There is no better feeling that when our clients hand over the keys to their house and you hear them say, “go ahead and sell it, I trust you”.
