Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty is Proud to Announce Their Affiliation With 22 Year Eastside Real Estate Broker Shari Jansen
Please join us in welcoming broker Shari Jansen, a well known name in Seattle and Eastside real estate. We sat down with Shari and discussed her choice to join the team at Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty and the Sotheby’s International Realty brand. Hear what Shari has to say:
What attracted you most to Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty?
What impressed me most was our initial interview. They brought in their entire leadership team. They knew my background and asked thought provoking questions that were meaningful. I felt valued. Seriously as if I made a difference. I saw them as a true team with defined roles to assist agents in growing their business. My head wrapped around the idea of not only growing my business but being able to give to others wanting the same.
During my years in leadership the opportunity came to watch other companies. See what was being done right. I knew The Brazens from earlier years but never heard their value proposition. For me it is aligning myself with a brand that can give momentum to my career. “Elevate” my surroundings. I witnessed The Brazen’s growth this past year. Going from 8 to 40 brokers and was encouraged by many people to meet them.
• What most excites you about being a part of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand? In your opinion what is their market differentiator?
The brand itself stands for quality. Knowledge. Expertise. Discretion. Refinement. Genuine. The difference is they represent every buyer or seller no matter the price with the exact same level of dignified service. The marketing is the best I’ve ever seen!Gorgeous.
•What role did timing play in your move to Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty?
It was perfect timing. The move prior was not a fit for me. Growth is a word that means freedom to me. The Brazens saw an ability that together we can achieve market share and strong growth. I am so happy to be part of not only this amazing family but the entire team!
• How long have you been in real estate, what roles have you played throughout your tremendous career?
First off my father told me ‘whatever you do don’t go into real estate’…..I took that as a challenge! So almost 22 years ago I started as an assistant to a designated broker in Bellevue. He sent me to get licensed, believed in me and soon I became a buyers agent with Tere Foster at CBBain in Bellevue. My roles came out of being the one in the office who helped answer agent questions. Staying late to help write a new agents offer, I began mentoring at CBBain and believed in the newbies, several of whom received “Rookie of the Year”. During my CBBain years I was chosen to be part of the Cartus Relocation team. The bar was set high for standards of service and I worked four accounts; Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Nordstrom. Most of those were managers hiring and thus became the ‘department realtor’.
In 2008 as the market had its downturn, I redefined myself and was hired as CEO/Team Leader of the Keller Williams Bellevue office, then later promoted to the bigger KW Greater Seattle office. I hired, managed & trained over 450+ agents in the region. There I taught classes, inspired and listened to them. It was awesome to see 80-120 agents show up each week for our team meetings! I enjoyed celebrating their success constantly, modeled by giving to them, and served five plus years in leadership . It was truly a blessing to have this experience. They all gave me more than I could ever have done for them and for that I am forever grateful!
• You have worked at multiple firms, what role do you think a brand has in today’s real estate industry?
I’ve worked with the most recognized brands in our industry. Stayed through loyalty and left for opportunity. In my opinion the agent needs to match their brand. My standard and protocol for business is very high. The Sotheby’s International Realty name allows me to give my genuine interpretation of that brand. It comes down to putting others first and making it a win-win for all. Life is short and this should be an enjoyable experience for our clients. Brazen Sotheby’s International Really stands for the five star celebrity service every client deserves!
• How do you see the industry today?
I see opportunity! My business is based on personal referrals and I’ve let my clients, family and friends know, buy. Move up to your next level now. First time homeowner, get in. I am finding sellers off market with defined criteria for my buyers. Doing what others are not willing to do. We have to become researchers in this market. Dig till you find the perfect scenario for our clients and it is awesome when it all comes together!
• What is one thing that people wouldn’t know about you?
My Mother was a huge influence in my life. Midwest values, Girl Scout, one of 6 kids. We earned our way. “Everything I am or hope to be I owe to my Mother”(Abraham Lincoln) she overcame tragedy with kindness, accepting of all and told each of us kids “you are my favorite”! We had great laughs when we finally found out we were all her favorites.
• What do you most look forward to in working at Brazen Sotheby’s International Realty?
I look forward to learning, expanding my mindset, and gaining visibility through quality marketing. Overall, sharing in our strengths.
• What’s your life goal?
After my grand daughter Avery was born I decided to be a positive influence in her life as I’ve done for my agents. “Creating a Legacy for Others” is a meaningful life goal and a motto I live by.
I would, WITHOUT A DOUBT, recommend Shair to anyone looking to buy a house. She went above and beyond what I would have expected from a real estate agent and we have come to view her as a friend. -Dana & Bradon McClure
